The Boy Scouts will likely be on the agenda at the Southern Baptist Convention next week, with the head of the denomination saying he expects a resolution encouraging an exodus from the Scouts.
Frank Page, president of the Baptist's executive committee, told CBN News he'd like local churches to consider both the Southern Baptist's Royal Ambassador's program for boys -- and a new non-denominational program in the works.
Page also said he's deeply concerned about the culture's mindset toward Christians. He cited the changes in Scouting, as well as efforts to deny churches access to meeting space in schools.
"I believe the day will come soon where we will see not only hesitancy to help and encourage churches in Christian work but an active persecution thereof," he said. "We're seeing it around the world. I believe we will see it here in my lifetime."
Southern Baptists will hold their annual convention in Houston starting next Tuesday.
