Black clergy in Chicago are actively opposing a measure that would legalize same-sex marriage in Illinois.
The state Senate last month approved legislation allowing gay couples to marry. The pending legislation awaits a floor vote in the House, and Gov. Pat Quinn has said he'll sign the bill if it reaches his desk.
The group called the "African American Clergy Coalition" is targeting the black community with radio spots and robo-calls.
The pastors are asking residents to urge their state lawmakers to vote "no" on the bill. The group is also planning a street campaign.
