The American Bible Society released its annual State of the Bible report, Tuesday, which asked the question: Is the Bible losing its influence in America?
Among the key findings: 77 percent of those surveyed believe values and morals in the United States are declining. One-third of them say its because Americans don't read the Bible enough.
Is the Bible losing its influence in America? Dr. Cornelius Bekker, chairman of biblical studies and Christian ministry at Regent University, talked about the study's findings and more on CBN News Channel Morning News, March 27.
The survey also revealed a gap between beliefs and actions. For instance, 66 percent say they believe the Bible has everything a person needs to live a meaningful life.
But 58 percent say they don't want the wisdom and advice the Bible has to offer. Meanwhile, 57 percent say they read the Scripture fewer than five times a year.
Geof Morin, chief communications officer for The American Bible Society, also shared his thoughts on the matter on CBN Newswatch, March 26. Click play below for the interview.
