The governor of North Dakota has been sent two new pro-life bills. If signed the measures would move to outlaw most abortions in the state.
Lawmakers recently passed the bills. One bans abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy. The other prohibits women from having the procedure because a fetus has a genetic defect, such as Down syndrome.
If made law they would be the most restrictive abortion laws in the U.S
Pro-choice activists have promised a legal battle over the measures if they become law.
