Thursday marks the annual National Day of Prayer when people will gather from around the country to pray in Washington and venues across America.
This year's theme is "Pray for America." The theme verse is Matthew 12:21: "In His name the nations will put their hope."
Shirley Dobson, wife of child psychologist Dr. James Dobson, serves as chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force. She warned that with the nation sliding into "moral chaos," America needs God more than ever.
"Since 1973, 55 million babies have been killed and violence and terrorism stalk our streets," Dobson said. "And so the American people are very scared."
She talked more about this year's National Day of Prayer theme and how to remain hopeful amidst the nation's difficulties on "The 700 Club, May 1.
