Focus on the Family's Bob Waliszewski spoke with CBN News Today about two films: "Thor: The Dark World" and "Pete's Christmas," both being released this weekend.
Actor Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and actress Natalie Portman (Jane) return to the screen, along with new audience favorite, Actor Tom Hiddleston (Loki). Thor, reunited with Jane, must use all resources necessary to protect Earth from villain Malekith "the Accursed."
One concern for "Thor" was that it might be too dark for kids. Waliszewski gave it a 3.5 out of 5 for family friendliness.
"The battle scenes can be quite intense, not overly gruesome," Waliszewski said, who doesn't recommend it for anyone younger than 13.
Waliszewski also took a look at The Hallmark Channel's TV movie "Pete's Christmas."
"Think of it as 'Groundhog's Day,' only at Christmas time," he said. "We've seen this before, but it's cute in the Christmas context."
Waliszewski, director of Focus on the Family's Plugged In, offered his insights on both movies, on CBN News Today, Nov. 8.
