Americans Voice Shutdown Frustrations via Twitter

Ad Feedback
Unlike past government shutdowns, Americans now have social media to voice their opinions.

On Twitter, hashtags like #dearcongress and #governmentshutdown have taken over feeds.

Today, #justvote began trending after the White House tweeted about the House voting on a continuing resolution to fund the government.

But perhaps the most influential tweets have come from celebrities.

Comedy Central tweeted: "Due to the shutdown, NASA's asteroid detection team isn't working. If an asteroid hits, let's hope it lands on Congress."

While The Daily Show sent: "#TDSBreakingNews Congress still paid during shutdown.Part of plan to get country running on 100% renewable, clean-burning rage by 2014"

And in a bizarre rant @thetweetofGod

chimed in on Oct.2, saying, "I work in mysterious ways, but Congress doesn't work in pretty obvious ones."
