Calvary Chapel founder Pastor Chuck Smith, died Thursday after a battle with lung cancer. He was 86.

"My beautiful, beloved, darling Daddy is in Heaven. He has heard the words, 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.' Matthew 25:21," his daughter Janette Smith Manderson posted on Facebook early this morning.

He's remembered as a leader of the Jesus Movement during the 1960s and 1970s.

Smith had been undergoing treatments for cancer on and off over the last two years, all while still preaching regularly from the pulpit and over the radio. In June, his daughter announced her father's cancer had been upgraded to Stage 4.

More than 11,000 Facebook followers committed to praying for Smith while he was ill.
