President George W. Bush called him a "man of integrity, a man of great judgment and a man who knows the law."
Now, former Attorney General John Ashcroft has a new passion: bringing Christians back to a love of the classic hymns and gospel choruses that put the Word of God to music.
As an accomplished musician, he wants to help put the Word of God in people's mouths by encouraging them to look back to the hymns and gospel choruses as a source of inspiration.
Ashcroft, who sings and plays piano, has led worship at his local Assemblies of God church in Missouri for years.
This Friday, he will be participating in a community hymn-sing event at the Regent University Chapel, along with Dove Award-winning producer Craig Adams and worship leader David M. Edwards.
He also will conduct a seminar on Nov. 2 called "Hymn Story: Hymnology and the Modern Church." He, along with Adams and Edwards, will explore God's Word through hymns and share how to write hymns for today.
Both events are free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
Ashcroft will talk about his love for the hymns and God's word, on The 700 Club, Oct. 30. Check your local listings for show times or check CBNNews.com for the entire interview after 11 a.m. ET.
