Doc Gets Heat for Not Reporting Underage Abortion

Complaints have been filed against an Indiana abortion doctor who failed to report performing an abortion on a 13-year-old girl.

Dr. Ulrich Klopfer of Fort Wayne Women's Health Organization performed the abortion on February 7, 2013.

Indiana law requires doctors to report the abortion of underage girls to the state within three days.

The two complaints were filed with the Attorney General's Office and the Indiana Medical Licensing Board by Allen County Right to Life Executive Director Cathie Humbarger and a sidewalk counselor Evelyn Witte.

The women filed the complaints after discovering Klopfer didn't report the abortion until more than five months later.

"We want to make certain the proper authorities are aware so they can look into it and make sure this little girl is protected," Humbarger said.

"This rises above any issue of whether you're for or against abortion. It's about the protection of a young girl," she explained.

The complaints also said this is not the first time Klopfer failed to report an abortion on an under-aged girl.
