Hundreds of people gathered Monday outside North Carolina's Rowan County Administration Building to support the right to pray before meetings.
Return America, a group based near Winston-Salem, organized the rally. Crowding the sidewalk in front of the building, they sang patriotic songs and hymns.
Earlier this summer a federal judge ordered the county commissioners to stop opening their meetings with prayer.
They had been sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for opening their meetings with Christian prayers, but not including those of other religions.
