"American Idol" star Colton Dixon offers listeners a personal look into his faith in Christ with his newly released second album, "Anchor."

Inspiration for the album came after realizing how easy it is to get caught up the daily grind. He counted his time on stage as his "personal Jesus time."

Dixon climbed the charts in Christian music since his career began in 2009 when he won over viewers on Season 11 of FOX's "American Idol." He released his album "A Messenger" in 2013, and set first-week sales records for a Christian artist.

Then, he said he wanted to take a step back to give himself a check.

"I realized how easy it was to get caught up in the current of a schedule and get distracted while out on the road and realized I needed stability. I needed a foundation, an anchor so to speak. I realized I couldn't count my time on stage as my personal Jesus time," Dixon said.

His single "More of You" defines the heartbeat of the album and takes on the challenges of travelling as an artist.

"Imagine two cups of water. One cup represents you, the other God. The water in your cup represents anything you're putting before God. It could be entertainment, your job, your family, money. What God wants to do with us is fill us up with more of him. If we want to experience the full potential of God's love and power in our lives, we have to empty our cups first," Dixon shared.

The album cover, an underwater picture of Dixon, symbolizes his plunge into his faith, daily. The shoot took place in Nashville, Tennessee, at author Gary Chapman's home.

"We tried to use oxygen tanks at first, and usually people use oxygen tanks and have a mask. We didn't think that through. So when I tried to breathe - umm it wasn't fun for those few minutes," Dixon joked.

Thanks to Pepsi MidAmerica's COO, Lee Crisp, Colton Dixon's music is now featured on Mountain Dew cans.

The cans include a free download of "Our Time is Now" co-written with Toby Mac. Dixon also collaborated with artists Trevor McNevin from "Thousand Foot Krutch," and Matthew West on the album.

The album is available on iTunes and on Colton Dixon's website.
