NEW YORK CITY - As family and friends gather throughout the holiday season, it's evident Andy Williams had it right when writing the 1963 hit song "Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."
New York City lights up with Christmas decorations and trees.
And you can't help but notice people gathering from all over the world to view the infamous storefront displays.
From Fifth Avenue to Herald Square, store owners try to top the year before with glittering decor that attract holiday onlookers to their storefronts.
Macy's is not only known for its infamous Thanksgiving parade, but also for their Christmas displays.
Last year's theme was "Dream to Believe," but this year Macy's festive windows showcase "Santa's Journey to the Stars."
While passing the storefront through Herald Square, you'll see the tale of Alex, a young boy with a magic telescope who experiences Christmas on other planets with his dog, Bella.
Roya Sullivan designed the storyline using 85 percent foam, with sculptures specially created to resemble the surfaces of the moon and stars.
Sullivan said she hopes the design "will symbolize the power of magical thinking and the tradition of storytelling."
"We have combined our homage to today's tech-savvy child with a nostalgic dream to travel through space with Santa," she explained
The windows are on display from November 20th through December 26th.
