Family, Fans Mourn Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman

Friends, family and fans of Philip Seymour Hoffman are mourning the award-winning actor's untimely death. 

Hoffman was found dead Sunday in his apartment in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan. He was 46.

The exact cause of death has yet to be determined, but New York Police Department officials say injectable drugs were found at the scene.

CNN reported Hoffman was found with a needle in his arm and heroin was found in the apartment. His body was discovered Sunday shortly before noon Eastern, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hoffman won the Best Actor Academy Award and the Golden Globe Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his leading role in the 2005 film "Capote."

He was nominated for three Best Supporting Actor Oscars, for "The Master," "Doubt," and "Charlie Wilson's War."

The Oscar-winner had been sober for 23 years before suffering a relapse in 2012.

Hoffman was born July 23, 1967, and was nominated for four Oscars and three Tonys.

He leaves behind three children, ages 10, 7 and 5.
