Traditional marriage supporters in Kansas and Idaho are urging legislators to approve protections for business owners who refuse services for same-sex weddings because of their faith.

In Kansas, these protections would apply to bakeries, photographers, and other wedding services. And the bill would prohibit anti-discrimination lawsuits on such grounds.

Idaho lawmakers are considering a similar measure.

They call it a preemptive strike to prevent a threat to people's professional licenses.

Gay rights advocates say the measures allow for discrimination.
