Churches that host public igh school graduation ceremonies must continue to conceal their crosses and other religious symbols after the U.S. Supreme Court opted to leave in place a lower court ruling.

In 2012, a federal court in Chicago ruled that displaying such symbols at public graduations violate the U.S. Constitution, even if the ceremony is held inside a church.

The Supreme Court has refused to weigh in on that decision.

Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas said they were willing to hear the appeal. But four justices are needed to accept a case.
