A gunman shot and killed a student at an Oregon high school shortly before classes started Tuesday. Authorities later found the suspect dead.

Reynolds High School was placed on lockdown and students were evacuated room by room, police said. Parents and students were reunited in a supermarket parking lot.

Daniel DeLong, a 15-year-old freshman student, said he saw a physical education teacher at the school with a bloodied shirt.

"I'm a little shaken up. I'm just worried," DeLong said.

"We thought it was fake because we never heard of anything like this," another student, Paul Csea said. "Everyone thought it was a joke."

Csea said he heard screaming and then he and others were led from the cafeteria to a secure counselor's office to wait out the lockdown.

Morgan Rose, a 15-year-old freshman, said she hunkered down in a locker room with another student and two teachers.

"It was scary in the moment. Now knowing everything's okay, I'm better," Rose said.

The shooting took place one day before the school was scheduled to break for the summer.

The Multnomah County sheriff's office have not named the gunman.
