Authorities are investigating after a $600,000 offering collection was stolen from Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church this week.

The offering was taken from a church safe sometime between Sunday and Monday. Many of the envelopes included checks or credit card information.

The church has warned members of identity theft because of the robbery. Many of the members are left shocked someone would rob a church.

"You can't believe people would do that, especially at a church," Brad Duryea, from Lakewood Church, said.

Investigators said the discovery was reported Monday by a church employee and an off-duty sheriff's deputy. No arrests have been made so far.

Lakewood is the largest single church in the country.
