Police in Pennsylvania are searching for the gunman who shot a pregnant teenager, killing her unborn child.

DaRae Delgado,15, was shot early Monday by someone who knocked on the door of the family's Duquesne home. The assailant covered the peephole and then opened fire when she answered.

Her mother, Deanna Weams, said her daughter was eight months pregnant.

The girl is expected to survive, but her unborn baby was killed in the shooting.

Doctors said the unborn baby bore the brunt of the gunfire.

Police believe three people may have been involved in the attack and could be charged with murder.

Pennsylvania is one of nearly 40 states with fetal homicide laws.
