'The Hornet's Nest' Gives Raw View of Warfare

A new war documentary,"The Hornet's Nest," is more than just a true story. It's been described as "an intensely raw film experience."

The documentary tells the story of two embedded journalists, a father and son, who follow an elite group of U.S. troops on a dangerous mission in Afghanistan.

The film uses unprecedented real footage to tell the story of U.S. troops who engage the enemy deep inside one of Afghanistan's most hostile valleys, a place where no foreign troops have ever dared to go before.

What are some of the Christian values found in "The Hornet's Nest?" Pastor Michael Ciociola of Calvary Christian Center in California talked about this and more on CBN Newswatch, May 20.

The film also documents the death of Terry Burgess's son on that mission, Staff Sgt. Bryan Burgess.

"Watching the scene with Bryan saying his children's name -- it's heart-rending for me; it's very, very hard. But at the same time, I can accept it as a gift," Terry Burgess said.

"But for me to be able to see Bryan on the screen, hear his voice, actually hear him talking about his children -- how much he misses them, that he cared about them very much -- it's a lot more than just a photograph; this is definitely a gift to us," he continued.

"There are several scenes in 'The Hornet's Nest' that accurately and poignantly portray the character quality of Christ in the actions of these warriors as they enter into battle," Pastor Joe Martin of Trinity Dallas Church said.

"The Hornet's Nest," rated R, will open in select markets May 23 and will release in theaters nationally June 6.
