Activists Take Fight to Planned Parenthood's Front Door

WASHINGTON -- Pro-life leaders and partisans came right to the doors of the downtown Planned Parenthood in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

The goal was to hold a news conference exposing how the abortion giant hurts men, women, babies and even taxpayers.

Almost every speaker pointed out a separate way Planned Parenthood does harm -- like making hundreds of millions of dollars off abortion, but forcing taxpayers to foot much of the bill, even though a majority of them oppose federal funding of abortion.

Lila Rose, president of Live Action, told CBN News that Obamacare is only making this problem worse.

"Obamacare does cover abortion in healthcare plans that are subsidized by the government," Rose said. "And on top of that, Planned Parenthood is receiving over half-a-billion dollars from taxpayers every year under other funding sources."

Missy Martinez, high school program coordinator of Students for Life, highlighted how Planned Parenthood specifically targets African-Americans and high school and college aged girls.

"Eighty percent of Planned Parenthood facilities are actually within five miles of college campuses because they know college women who are pregnant feel desperate," Martinez stated.  "So they prey on them; they bring them in and they use them to meet their abortion quotas."

Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation said Planned Parenthood gives women the message that an unintended pregnancy or child is too much for them to bear.

"And what the abortion industry tells them every single day- the lies, the mis-education - is that they're not strong enough," Bomberger said.

He added, "I thank God that my birth mom, despite the horror and violence of being raped, chose courage and went through nine months of a traumatic pregnancy and gave me life."

Former nurse Jill Stanek said she came to bear witness to the horrid reality that abortion really is murder.

"As an RN, I held a live aborted baby until that baby died, and that's what really drew me into the battle in a powerful way," Stanek said.

The pro-life activist had a long list of Planned Parenthood wrongs to expose.

"Such as Medicaid and Title 10 fraud, off-label administration of RU486, which has killed women, aiding and abetting sex traffickers and aiding and abetting underage rape perpetrators," Stanek stated.

Alison Howard, communications director of Concerned Women for America, talked about how her own father recently surprised her, revealing decades ago he took his girlfriend to have their baby aborted.  He told his daughter that death still haunts him to this day.

"It so easily rolls off the tongue that 55 million babies have been lost since Roe v. Wade - 55 million," Howard said at the news conference.  "But that's 55 million mothers and fathers who lost that opportunity to love, men and women that are hurting."

Planned Parenthood is responsible for about one-third of those abortions every year.
