A Massachusetts public school district says it will continue its working relationship with Gordon College, despite its president's stand on homosexuality.

The news comes after another school district voted to sever its ties to the Christian college.

The Boston Globe reports the Lynn Public School District had been partnering with Gordon, a private Christian college in Boston, for 11 years. Lynn used volunteers from the college as mentors and tutors in its public schools.

But when Gordon College President Michael Lindsay signed a letter supporting religious exemption to federal workplace protections for gay and lesbian workers, Lynn district administrators opposed the action and ended the partnership with the evangelical school.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Record reports the Georgetown Education Association has decided to maintain its ongoing business relationship with Gordon College.

Representatives from the city of Georgetown met with Lindsay on Aug. 18 and were satisfied with his explanation that he signed the letter in a private capacity and that the school is not trying to bar any groups of people from its campus.
