Family, friends and community members gathered for an interfaith service in memory of the two journalists killed during a live broadcast last week in Virginia.

WDBJ reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were shot to death Aug. 26 by former co-worker Vester Lee Flanagan while they were doing a live interview.

The memorial service for Ward and Parker was held Sunday at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke.

Station manager Jeff Marks spoke about prioritizing mental health treatment and not allowing anger to take over, calling it a "destructive force."

"Anger eats at you and the results we saw on Wednesday can be catastrophic," Marks warned.

"If we get strategic we have a goal and the possibility of positive action and that's what I'd like you to think about in the memory of Alison and Adam," he said.

Ward's funeral will be Sept. 1. Parker's family will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
