Investigators in Las Vegas say a woman intentionally crashed her car into a group of pedestrians on the crowded strip.

At least one person is dead and 36 others are wounded. Authorities say this was not an act of terrorism, but witnesses report the driver did intentionally hit dozens of people.

"You can see people literally bouncing off, she was running over everybody," one bystander said.

The crash took place near the venue for last nights Miss Universe pageant. Witnesses say the driver hit one group of people and then drove back up on the sidewalk, hitting even more.

"It was going fast, accelerated through people. Then it turned around a truck, slowed down, then accelerated again into the people. At that point it was mayhem. People down," one witness said.

Authorities confirm there was a child in the car. Before the driver could leave the scene, bystanders charged the car, trying to get the child out.

The woman was eventually taken into custody. Tests are being done to determine if she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
