An Atlanta fire chief was recently fired from his job after publishing anti-gay comments in a book.

Kelvin Cochran authored the book as part of lesson plans for a men's Bible study, which took place outside of work.

In the self-published book, Who Told You That You Were Naked?, Cochran referred to homosexuality as "unclean," "a sexual perversion," "vulgar," and "inappropriate."

Cochran said the director of Atlanta's Ethics Office gave him permission to write the book and said he referenced homosexuality on less than half a page in the 160-page book.

He gave copies of the book to several co-workers whom he considered friends.

In November, Cochran received a month-long suspension and was ordered to complete sensitivity training. When he returned to work Tuesday, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced that Cochran had been fired.

CBN News spoke with Garland Hunt, former chairman of the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Parolels. He is also a member of Cocran's legal team.

Hunt said Cochran's firing is a case of political correctness on behalf of the homosexual agenda. Click play for his comments.

Meanwhile, the group Faith Driven Consumer has launched a petition campaign asking Mayor Reed apologize for discriminating against Cochran.

The group has earned national recognition for its successful efforts advocating for tolerance and equality for people of faith.

Last year, the group's #IStandWithPhil campaign led the grassroots movement that returned Phil Robertson to "Duck Dynasty."
