Americans are celebrating an historic win for the women's soccer team in the World Cup.

On Sunday night, they captured their third title by overwhelming defending champion Japan 5-2.

With Carli Lloyd scoring three times, the United States shot ahead by four goals in just the first 16 minutes. The sellout crowd in Vancouver, British Columbia, roared its approval.

"I'm so proud and so zapped at the same time. It's a surreal moment. It's been amazing; we just wrote history," Lloyd said.

It's the first title for the U.S. in 16 years.
