Chicago's mayor is asking African-American ministers to urge the community to be peaceful in their protests over a deadly police shooting of a black teen by a white officer.

The incident happened in October 2014, but the city just released the video late Tuesday. It shows Officer Jason Van Dyke shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald 16 times while the teen was walking in a four-lane street.

Prosecutors have charged Van Dyke with first-degree murder.

Mayor Rahm Emmanuel asked ministers for assistance during a news conference. But some question why it took more than a year to bring charges.
