Ben Higgins, the newest star of ABC's "The Bachelor," says his faith helped to give him perspective while dating multiple women on the hit reality show.

"I think God has continued to remind me from day one that I am not the biggest thing out there, no matter what people say or what I read," the 26-year-old business analyst from Denver said.

Higgins said his faith also caused him to focus on the bigger meaning, which he described as "love, and not just romantic love, but just loving other people."

"And that really helped me as I had to say goodbye to some of these women as well, to just try to love them as best as I could as I say goodbye," he said.

The 20th season of "The Bachelor" started this week. Higgins said he had a reason for not kissing anyone the first night.

"It was important for me to set standards on night one," he explained. "I knew at the end of the night I was going to have to say goodbye to seven women and I wanted to make sure that I was getting the most out of our time together....the physical part I thought could wait."

Sean Lowe, the 2013 star of "The Bachelor," is known for his Christian witness on and off the show. He was nicknamed "The Virgin Bachelor" for his commitment to not have sex until marriage.

He wrote for "Patheos" this week that he's excited to see how Higgins will share his faith during the current Bachelor season.

"I'm hoping that America gets to see why he's the good person he is," he wrote. "I know Ben has a heart for Jesus. Now, he's going to have a big stage to share that love for the Lord with the world."

Lowe also warned that Higgins will "be tested" on the show but concluded, "Ben will do a great job of handling those decisions and I have the utmost faith that he will make Jesus famous this season."
