Recording artist Christon Gray is expanding the landscape of Christian music.

Gray, who joined forces with Kirk Franklin last year, just released his first album on Franklin's label. It's been a 10-year journey for Gray, who for more than half of his career as a musician didn't sing. He rapped.

The journey began in Ohio, with Gray performing with a group called The Elevationists.

After the group broke up, Gray was left alone with his music. In 2011, he released his first solo project, "Even with Evil with Me."

That message of transparency can still be heard in his work today. His latest project, "The Glory Album," is his first release with the Kirk Franklin label.

Gray shares why this project is a dream come true in an interview on Efrem Graham's Studio 5. Click play to watch.
