Happy Easter! Colorado Digs Out after Major Snowstorm

Colorado residents are digging out Thursday after being pummeled by a powerful spring snowstorm.

On Wednesday, Denver International Airport was forced to shut down after heavy snow and winds made it unsafe for planes to land or take off.

The airport reopened after about seven hours, but more than 1,300 of the 1,500 scheduled flights were cancelled, leaving hundreds of people with suitcases and duffel bags stranded.

"I had a nice little cocktail and that calmed the nerves down because I was frazzled," said traveler Alicia Bailey, who drove four hours to the airport only to discover her flight had been cancelled.

"The way I look at it is, it's all God's work," she said. "You have to look at the glass half full. I can't change it so I'm just going to tell my boss, 'I'll see you on Friday.'"

The storm is now moving into the Midwest, bringing snow to the Plains states on into Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
