China Must Provide Internet during Olympics

The International Olympic Committee said Internet access cannot be blocked during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

China recently blocked access to Web sites featuring news about anti-government protests in Tibet.

But Olympic officials say this type of action would reflect very poorly on the country.

Under its host city agreement, Beijing is required to provide Internet access to nearly 30,000 journalists.
