Some analysts believe Russia may also be trying to intimidate other former Soviet regions like Ukraine.

Steve Weber, CBN's Worldreach director in Ukraine, believes the crisis in Georgia is unpredictable.

Weber added that Russia has manipulated the Ukraine's political process during the last few years, and says it's not surprising that Russia is now flaunting its military as a threat.
