Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Iran is just as dangerous to Arab countries as it is to Israel.
"The Persians are trying to devour the Arab states," Mubarak warned other Muslim countries at a recent meeting with members of Egypt's ruling party, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Earlier this week, tension between the two countries led Egypt to recall its ambassador in Teheran.
Meanwhile, Egypt's Foreign Ministry summoned an Iranian diplomat based in Cairo to protest student demonstrations outside its diplomatic mission in Teheran, the state-run FARS news agency reported.
According to FARS, Iranian students protesting "the Zionist regime's severe crimes in Gaza and Egypt's collaboration in exerting pressure on the Palestinian people" burned an Israeli flag, while shouting "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" in front of the Egyptian's diplomatic mission.
Iranian protesters have demonstrated in front of other Arab embassies for not demanding that Israel open the border crossings with the Gaza Strip.
Egyptian officials said some Iranian newspapers have criticized Egyptian policy and its leadership.
