Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is calling for Jerusalem to be divided in half.

Olmert believes the move is necessary for a two-state solution with the Palestinians.

"If we want to keep Israel Jewish and Democratic, we need to give up parts of the homeland we have dreamed about for generations... and return to a 1967 Israel," he said.

The Jerusalem Post reported Olmert also said bloodshed would continue if the decision was pushed off.
