The Swedish government has drafted legislation that could end all homeschooling in the country.
Homeschooling advocates fear the legislation before parliament would impose severe restrictions on parents wishing to educate their children at home.
The Swedish Association for Home Education, or ROHUS, said the Swedish Government "is making homeschooling illegal, for religious or philosophical reasons, thus showing off its worst totalitarian socialists roots."
The law only allows parents to homeschool if extraordinary circumstances exist. The curriculum would have be state approved and permission would have to be renewed each year.
The law could be voted on next spring and enacted in 2011.
