Thousands protested outside an Iranian university, Monday, shouting "death to the dictator" in support of the students inside.
Security forces used batons and tear gas to try and disperse the large crowds at Tehran University.
Many wore green wrist and head bands chanting anti-regime slogans. In a video of the protests, some could even be heard calling the Iranian president a traitor.
Pro-reform campus groups called for students across Iran to turn out Monday for rallies at universities against Iran's leadership.
The government banned foreign journalists from covering the rally, which was the first protest in more than a month.
