The two American journalists imprisoned in North Korea are seeking amnesty from the country's Communist government.
Laura Ling and fellow television producer Euna Lee were arrested four months ago by North Korean border guards.
They were convicted in June for illegally entering North Korea and other crimes against the government.
On Tuesday, Ling called her sister Lisa Ling, who is also a prominent journalist in the U.S. Ling said her sister and co-worker confessed to the charges. The pair have asked the U.S. government to request amnesty on their behalf.
U.S. officials have been briefed on the situation, but there has been no official response from the Obama administration.
