Southwestern Peru is so high in the mountains that for most of the year temperatures stay below freezing.
Most of the people living in this region are very poor and do not have enough clothing to keep children and the families warm.
So far this year, 150 children have died in the Puno region from respiratory infections brought on by the lack of shoes and coats.
CBN's Operation Blessing recently help set up a first aid station, compiling desperately needed medical equipment from neighboring regions in Peru.
In one week, the aid organization treated 6,000 people and distributed several coats and blankets.
