The small island nation of Haiti is one of the poorest in the world. A hospital there treats more than 200 patients a day but remarkably, it has no running water.
That causes big problems for the staff as they treat their patients. For example, women in labor must bring their own water often from a dirty local river-to clean up after giving birth, leaving them and their babies susceptible to water born diseases.
CBN's Operation Blessing is helping connect the hospital to the city line this week. The aid organization is also installing a chlorinator to purify the water to prevent the spread of disease.
Operation Blessing is also planning on possibly drilling a deep water well to supply the hospital and surrounding community with clean running water.
