In Rwanda, a former businessman is on trial for allegedly taking part in the murder of 2,000 Tutsis at the Nyange Church.
It is a scene that played out over and again during the ethnic violence that left nearly one million people dead in 1994.
Gaspard Kanyarukiga, who was arrested in South Africa in July 2004, pleaded innocent to killing the people at the church.
Today, the country is trying to move ahead with forgiveness and reconciliation.
CBN News recently spoke with documentary filmmaker Laura Waters Hinson.
She is the writer and producer of a documentary about Rwanda titled, "As We Forgive."
Waters was asked about the role that faith is having in healing Rwandan society.
