A new video has been released that shows a man believed to be the only known U.S. serviceman held captive in Afghanistan.
Spc. Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho has been held by the Taliban since June 30, 2009, when he disappeared in Paktika province in eastern Afghanistan.
Taliban militants have released video of Bergdahl before, on July 18, 2009; Dec. 25, 2009; and April 7, 2010.
In the previous release from April, the captive pleaded with the U.S to release Afghans being held by coalition forces.
IntelCenter, a U.S.-based group that monitors militant media, discovered the new footage. It has yet to be verified.
The group says a Taliban commander, who had once threatened to kill the U.S. soldier, is also seen in the latest video along with the captive. The man believed to be Bergdahl appears only briefly in the video and is not the main focus.
