President Obama hosted the Dalai Lama at the White House, Thursday.

Tibet's exiled spiritual leader is seeking assistance from the U.S. to help resolve problems with China. Beijing accuses the Dalai Lama of campaigning for Tibetan independence.

China's warns that Thursday's meeting could worsen U.S and Chinese relations.

The Dalai Lama said he was "very happy" after his meeting with President Obama. The two leaders met privately and also talked on issues ranging from religious freedom to a greater role for women around the world.

During the past 20 years, the Dalai Lama has meet with U.S. presidents. Most of the meetings have been private.
