The U.S. government, private charities and individual donors have given billions of dollars in aid to Haiti since the country was hit by a 7.0 earthquake.
Other western democracies and Israel have also poured money, supplies and workers into the disaster zone.
Yet, notably absent among the relief givers are the oil-rich Muslim nations, which have collectively contributed less than one-tenth of 1 percent of the aid.
