CBN's Operation Blessing International is working in the area often referred to as the Dry Corridor, an area in Zacapa, Guatemala, an impoverished town experiencing a famine.
The charity organization learned of one woman's difficult situation.
Maria, a working, single mother of five was trying to build a plastic home. She would go to work to collect sticks and thin tree branches to build the frame of her house.
Every week she would collect plastic bags that she could put together to make the walls and roof of her house, only held together by Zip-ties, rocks and string.
But after one generous donation from Guatemalan singer Harold Guerra, Operation Blessing was able to build a new sturdy home for her.
"We are giving you a house, so that you and your children will no longer be in search of a place of refuge," Guerra said to Maria.
With tears in her eyes, Maria told the Operation Blessing staff, "Thanks, to the Lord. I dreamed about this."
