A set of freak waves smashed into a Mediterranean cruise ship travelling off the coast of Spain Wednesday killing two people and injuring a dozen others.
Footage from a home video showed the moment three huge waves started crashing into the Louis Cruise Lines vessel.
The 33-feet high waves caused a panic, flooded cabins, and broke windows.
"Suddenly we saw a wave that went up above our level, and I said to my husband, 'Tonight we will not have to wash the windows,"' passenger Claudine Armand of France said. "Right then we heard a loud noise, and it was the wave that hit us."
"When we came out of the room we saw the wave had flooded everything," she told Associated Press Television News.
Scientist say waves of this size only occur once or twice a year.
