An elderly Canadian couple has taken the concept of sharing to a new level, after giving away most of their lottery ticket winnings to others.
Allen and Violet Large played the lottery on a whim this summer and ended up winning more than $11 million.
But in a matter of months, they had given most of the money away to family members, charities, and community groups.
They also decided to give a large portion to the hospital and clinics where Violet has been getting cancer treatment. She said her battle against the disease keeps the couple grounded and their eyes on what's important.
"We're country hicks, and we're not travelers so why keep the money and give it to the government?" Violet said.
"You can't buy happiness and you can't buy your health," Allen added.
The couple said they never needed the money because they're already rich with what they describe as a million-dollar view, and each other.
