The 33 Chilean miners rescued by Oct. 14 after being trapped underground for more than two months were honored in a ceremony at the presidential palace this week.

Monday, President Sebastian Pinera presented each of the men with a Chilean flag and plaque featuring a replica of the rescue capsule that brought them to safety.

Crowds gathered outside the palace to cheer the miners' arrival.

After the ceremony, the men put on their cleats and played a soccer match verses a presidential team lead by Pinera. The presidential side won 3-2.

The men said they joked with the president, and put bets on the match while still trapped in the mine.
