Mexico's former president is blaming the United States for violence stemming from the country's drug war.
Murders and kidnappings are part of daily life in the country as drug cartels battle for control of the border.
"We don't deserve to be where we are," former Mexico President Vicente Fox said during a speech at Texas Christian University Thursday. "It's not even our problem."
"We're doing our part," he added. "We're paying with 50,000 dead now. If you don't consume drugs, our problem is solved."
Fox also says the U.S. and Mexico need to work closer together to stop weapons from crossing the border.
