Operation Blessing International, the charity aid organization based in Virginia Beach, Va., teamed up with ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Virginia Beach last week to make a family's wish come true.
This week, the charity aid group has been working on an extreme makeover of another kind in the South American nation of Peru.
Operation Blessing staff worked with volunteers from a church in Peru to build homes for impoverished families.
The volunteers split into groups and were able to build seven houses in one day.
Most of the families were living in homes made of unstable materials like straw and plastic sheeting. The new homes are made of wood and will be able to keep out the elements and wild animals.
One woman who received a house was jubilant, saying that for the first time in 62 years she owned her own home.
