Tremors from Egypt's political earthquake have also been felt in the West Bank.
    
The Western-backed Palestinian Authority says it will hold local council elections for the first time since 2006. According to officials, the PA could hold new elections as early as next week. 
    
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas cancelled past elections for fear that his Fatah party would lose control. Observers speculate the PA's decision comes in response to the democracy demonstrations in Cairo.
